Not every building is pet-friendly, but more landlords are beginning to accept dogs. Each dog breed is different and some are more fit to live in smaller spaces than others. If you’re on a quest to find the perfect furry friend for your small space then look no further. Here are some of the best dog breeds for apartments.

English Bulldog

Bulldogs are full of love and low on energy! These chubby companions are the perfect apartment dogs because they don’t require a lot of space to run around and are more interested in lounging all day. Who could say no to those eyes?

Pugs

Pugs are small, loveable and ridiculously cute. They do require a bit more exercise than others on this list, but a daily walk should suffice. These cuddly pups would make the perfect addition to your apartment.

Great Dane

Great Danes might be huge, but they aren’t very energetic. These dogs are large but lazy. If you have the space to house this breed, they make the perfect apartment companion because they’re very friendly and warm.

Maltese

These small dogs barely shed at all and are easy to take care of. They don’t require a ton of exercise and can be trained well. They may bark if someone is at the door, but that’s because they love you and want to protect you.

Chihuahua

Most Chihuahua’s weigh less than 5 pounds, and you can’t get much smaller than that. Their size makes them perfect apartment dogs because they take up virtually no space. These dogs are known to be loud barkers but this can be minimized through training and lots of love.

Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies are a very common apartment dog. They are extremely affectionate and are friendly with other dogs. These lap dogs don’t need a ton of exercise and can be trained rather easily.

Corgi

Corgis are a small breed that can fit in an apartment but they do require a fair amount of exercise. If you are prepared to take your corgi pup out for a long walk every day, then these dogs will do fine in an apartment.
