Meet RentMoola: Kevin The Dev. Wizard

Nestled in the heart of downtown Vancouver and downtown Toronto, RentMoola team members can be found performing a variety of different roles that make RentMoola the well-oiled machine that it is today.

RentMoola “opened for business” in 2013 with just four full-time employees: Patrick Postrehovsky, Co-Founder and CEO, Phillipp Postrehovsky, Co-Founder and COO, Andrew McLeod, CSO, and Austin Woodward, Director of Customer Success.

RentMoola now boasts nearly 25 employees in our Vancouver and Toronto offices to make sure that our product is the very best that it can be, and make sure that our users have the Cadillac of customer experiences.

One by one, we’re excited to introduce our team members. Each member of our team is here not only because they’re ridiculously talented–but because they love what they do.

RentMoola wouldn’t be the amazing company that it is without the product. And the product wouldn’t exist without our stellar development team. And our stellar development team just wouldn’t be as stellar without Kevin, our Development Wizard and resident die-hard Vancouver Canucks fan.

Kevin started with RentMoola is April, 2014. When asked why he got into website development, Kevin replied “I’m in love with everything about websites: designing them, developing them, maintaining them, and making them look slick and sexy.” The opportunity to join RentMoola came through previous work with Philipp, RentMoola’s co-founder and COO, and Kevin hasn’t looked back since. “To watch a business go from a small group of individuals in a room to the pack of hounds we are today spread across multiple rooms is a rewarding experience,” he adds “but of course not nearly as rewarding as the amount of travel points I got for paying my rent with RentMoola this month!”

Q: Why did you get into software development?

A: To say I was one of the cool dudes in high school would be a reach, but after finding out that my high school web development project was featured on the front page of the high school’s homepage, I still wasn’t one of the cool dudes, but I found my calling. Following a stress-inducing two years studying software development at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, the opportunities appeared before me, and I was lucky enough to find work that allows me to be creative and encourages me to learn something new every day. I may not have been the coolest dude in high school, but let’s just say I’m the coolest dude in RentMoola.

Q: Where can we find you outside of office hours?

A: If you can’t find me above-ground trail running mountains, you’ll find me below sea level. Ever since I became certified in scuba diving in 2013, I’ve been blowing bubbles underwater in dive sites around the lower mainland and Vancouver Island as often as I can possibly manage. The world beneath the waves is something I can always appreciate and never be bored of.

Q: What’s your favourite NHL team?

A: I’m a Canucks fan, but that doesn’t make me a fan of riots and setting vehicles on fire. Go Canucks.

Q: Tell us something totally random about yourself:

A: I don’t eat chocolate, I don’t eat anything that comes from the sea, and I don’t know how to use chopsticks. Essentially I’m a sin to all of humanity, but I take it day by day and I manage.
