With over 150 Canadian fintech companies applying, RentMoola along with 12 other companies was selected by the UK Department for International Trade to join the Fintech Mission from December 4 to 8 in London. During the mission, companies toured world leading banks, visited with various fintech leaders, opened the London Stock Exchange and even got to visit 10 Downing Street. Companies also attended the 2nd annual Fintech Connect Live conference.
Companies toured the innovation arms of Lloyds Bank, RBS and Barcleys, giving them an in depth look at how UK banks are delivering true innovation to their customers. They also met with senior executives at IHS Markit’s global headquarters to learn how innovation is at its core which has helped it become one of the world’s largest fintech players.
The group opened the London Stock Exchange on their first day and was granted private access to 10 Downing Street where the UK Prime Minister resides. To cap off the trip companies attended a networking event at the Canadian Embassy.
Although not a focus for 2017, RentMoola considers the UK an ideal European launch market. With a large London expat community who experience a significant pain point when paying rent RentMoola’s payment platform is ready to make life easier and more rewarding. Travel costs were kindly paid for by mission sponsors British Airways and the UK Department for International Trade.
